Young Artists Make Original Ads

For the second year in a row, the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board participated in the Surrey Now-Leader’s annual “Surrey Picasso Design an Ad.” The educational project highlights the amazing creativity that’s generated when local businesses are combined with students to design, powerful, compelling and effective ads. The project also recognizes the power of art in raising awareness of certain issues. In this case, the portrayal of REALTORS® and their role in building better and stronger communities.

Grade four students at Bonaccord Elementary School in Surrey were encouraged to use their creativity and imagination in interpreting the theme, “Find a perfect home with the help of a Fraser Valley Realtor®.” The students submitted 27 drawings for us to choose from for our Board ad running in the Surrey Now-Leader on March 20.

We chose the ad above because it had a clear positive message and a variety of colours that we felt would stand out.

Guidance provided to the students included a real estate agent driving or walking a family to a home with a “For Sale” sign in front of it, and a family living outside their new home where kids are shown playing in the yard.

It is heart-warming to see the effort that these young artists put into making original artwork demonstrating the important role that Realtors play in the communities in which they live, work and play.
