FVREB Wins BCREA Advocacy Award

FVREB continues to ensure the voice of REALTORS® is heard at the highest levels of government.

From March 8–12, 2026, members of the Board’s Stakeholder and Government Relations Committee (SGRC) and FVREB Officers met with MLAs from across the Fraser Valley as part of BCREA’s annual Government Liaison Days. The goal: share practical ideas with provincial leaders on how to improve housing supply, affordability, and industry regulation.

One of the key topics discussed was prefabricated and modular housing, building on FVREB’s report, Building Faster, Smarter: Unlocking British Columbia’s Prefabricated Housing Potential. REALTORS® highlighted the need to harmonize municipal zoning rules, create a provincial procurement roadmap to support modular housing, and expand TradeUpBC training to prepare workers for this growing sector.

SGRC members also raised strata-related issues, including the need for a review of the Strata Property Act, mandatory training for strata council members, and improved access to strata documents for owners and buyers. Following the recent provincial budget, REALTORS® also encouraged government to pause the proposed increase to the Speculation and Vacancy Tax (SVT) and reconsider plans to expand PST.

FVREB’s advocacy efforts were recognized during the event, with the Board receiving BCREA’s Advocacy Award for Best Government Relations Team, a testament to the ongoing work of SGRC and FVREB leadership to represent members and advance practical housing solutions.
