From the new Council rules to the slowing market to the ever-challenging technology. Doesn’t it seem that so much of last year was about stuff you had zero control over?
Well, in a few weeks you’ll be the one making the decisions as a voting member of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board.
This year there are five Special Resolutions on the table at our February 20 Annual General Meeting. The resolutions are important to us as members and REALTORS® because they represent progress on several key fronts: membership, governance, commercial division, safe workplaces, and professional conduct.
For those of you who are voting at the AGM for the first time, special resolutions like these require 75% of members to vote yes before they are passed and implemented. These are important decisions to make on the Board’s behalf and we need your support.
Ideally, members should know what the resolutions are and how they feel about them, long before they pour their first cup of coffee at the AGM breakfast starting at 7:30 am.
To that end, there are explanations of each of the Five Special Resolutions (and the by-law legal text) on REALTOR Link®, along with a feedback channel where members can ask questions, share insights, raise concerns or give their perspectives on each separate resolution. The feedback will be anonymous unless the members identify themselves.
Also, the Board is holding a special town hall information meeting at the Board office on February 5 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm where hosts President John Barbisan and President-Elect Darin Germyn will lead a presentation and discussion of the five special resolutions and the future of expanded voting options at the Board.
Register for the Townhall on Tuesday, February 5 @ 2:00 PM, held at the FVREB.
Register for the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, February 20. Registration and breakfast will be available at 7:30 AM and the official meeting will begin at 9:00 AM. The event will be held at the Coast Hotel & Convention Center in Langley.
