Call-out for member volunteers to assist with historic project to re-define FVREB sub-areas

No one knows neighbourhoods like REALTORS® and that’s why we need your help.

We’re looking for members with in-depth knowledge about their communities – right down to street level – to provide input on a rare, but critically-important Board project to assess and potentially re-define sub-areas. Note, areas will remain as they are, only sub-areas are being reviewed.

FVREB last reviewed sub-area boundaries in 2004 in conjunction with the launch of MLXchange (replaced by Paragon®). Since then, the Lower Mainland has experienced significant growth and while some sub-areas will remain unchanged, others may require adjustments to reflect population growth and expanded boundaries. The more accurately we can define these sub-areas, the greater the value of the data and statistics REALTORS® rely on to serve buyers and sellers – from benchmark prices to community target marketing.

The Board has an internal operational team ready to embark on this project and we are now looking for 12 to 15 members to provide their sub-area expertise to the team to help us determine which ones need attention. Here’s what we know so far:

  • Short-term commitment likely February/March timeframe
  • Work to be done remotely from your home or office
  • Project hours flexible; easily balanced with your day-to-day business
  • No reviewing of paper maps, all work to be done via computer

The members selected will be able to access cool, new mapping software to make all their recommendations online, right on top of simulations of current sub-area maps. We are excited about the new technology and what members may come up with!

If this sounds like a project you would like to participate in, or you have questions, please email cheryl.camara@fvreb.bc.ca by January 29, 2021. Please reference the specific sub-area(s) you have expertise in.
