BCREA is looking for new GR volunteers by June 9

Do you love politics and want to meet and network with other politically-minded Realtors from around the province? BCREA may be looking for you!

The opportunity:

There are up to three volunteer openings available on BCREA’s Government Relations Committee (GRC). Each position is a two-year term (June 2017-March 2019).

The GRC provides advice to BCREA staff regarding government relations priorities and offers feedback on the association’s progress on objectives. The GRC is an operational committee and does not report to the BCREA Board of Directors.  The chair is BCREA’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs and members include BCREA’s CEO, Manager of GR, Policy Analyst and Realtors from around BC.

What would I be expected to do?

  • go to Victoria to attend the annual Government Liaison Days conference (usually held in April)
  • contribute to policy discussions with BCREA staff and Realtors from around the province
  • attend three or four in-person committee meetings per governance year
  • take part in two or three conference calls per year
  • attend the annual provincial Government Leader’s Dinner — if invited by BCREA (usually held in June in Vancouver)
  • attend the provincial Opposition Leader’s Dinner — if invited by BCREA (usually held in the fall in Vancouver)
  • attend other conferences, meetings, and political fundraisers to demonstrate the prominence of the real estate sector and thank MLAs for their service — if invited by BCREA.

Who are they looking for?

They’re looking for Realtors who can offer insights from the rural and brokerage perspectives, and people who are familiar with BCREA’s public policy issues (see link below for details).

This sounds really good! How do I get involved?

You can apply to be a volunteer for BCREA’s GRC by filling out an application form and submitting it by Friday, June 9.
