AGM 2021: History in the making

For the first time in FVREB’s 100-year history, there will be no in-person attendance at our Annual General Meeting (AGM), coming up Thursday, March 11 in the morning.

This unfortunately, is due to the pandemic, and the same reason we are offering virtual Morning Member Meetings (Triple Ms). Per public safety protocols, no organization in BC can hold large, in-person events and as members know, we have one of the highest levels of in-person participation at AGMs of any Board in the province.

Last year, we had almost 400 members on site and had a total participation including those online and proxies for a total of over 900 – by far the highest turnout in our history.

This year’s AGM will be significantly different and will replicate the model of our Triple Ms: members will access the meeting through our custom-built, proprietary FVREB Portal and will participate and vote online through that portal.

Board officers, directors and staff will be running the meeting from the Board’s auditorium – following all COVID-19 safety protocols – while you are at home or at your office.

As long as you have an Internet connection and a device, you’ll be able to participate. Given the convenience and level of security we have in place for our portal, we are hoping to surpass our participation levels from last year.

In addition, the Board is proposing some innovative and important Special Resolutions this year for the FVREB’s By-law Amendments and members won’t want to miss having their say in moving their professional association forward.

Registration for AGM 2021

As always, only those active members who are eligible will be able to vote. All other members may attend and participate in the AGM, but not vote (i.e., probationary active members).

On-line registration will be open from 8 am to 9:45 am. If you miss the registration window, you may still attend, but will not be able to vote.

Participating remotely in AGM 2021

To join remotely and let your voice be heard at the meeting, you will log into the FVREB remote dashboard through REALTOR Link® using your usual Board log-in and password.

You will be able to post questions/comments, through the custom dashboard.

How will that work? A staff moderator will monitor questions and comments coming through the dashboard. And if you request your comment to be shared live with all participants, it will.

Voting remotely

If you plan to vote remotely, you must log in to the dashboard between 8 am and 9:45 am. When you log in, you are automatically registered for the meeting and to vote, if eligible.

If you log in before 9:45 am but then lose your connection, simply log in again. As long as you are logged in before 9:45, there shouldn’t be a problem. However, if you miss the 9:45 am cut-off, you won’t be able to vote; only observe the meeting via live stream.

Obviously the bigger the screen, the better the experience, especially the voting process. But it’s possible to observe, comment and vote using a smart phone, tablet, or desktop computer, as long as you’re online.

The voting tool for the AGM is called Simply Voting. You won’t have to download anything, it’s available once you log-in to the custom FVREB dashboard.  If you’ve never used Simply Voting before, check out this basic overview. More details will be provided ahead of the meeting.

Meeting agenda

The AGM will officially begin at 9:30 am. This year’s meeting will include presentations from the President and the CEO, a review of the year’s financial statements, along with a combination of up to seven Special Resolutions to be voted on. As well, members will elect incoming directors and officers.

We hope to see you online March 11!
