Members are reminded that when communicating about a concern or question regarding a REALTOR® from another brokerage, it’s important to follow the proper channels.
Members must afford professional courtesy by speaking first with your Managing Broker. Your Managing Broker will then communicate with the Managing Broker of the REALTOR® in question.
As you read in REALTORS® Best Practices – Resolving Complaints in the January 26 issue of NewsReal, complaints regarding another FVREB member should first be brought to the attention of your Managing Broker, not to the member in question.
This reminder falls in line with the direction from the BC Financial Services Authority:
Licensees should never be advised to contact a licensee (including a Managing Broker) from another brokerage to request advice. Their own Managing Broker (if not available) should have a plan in place (e.g. in the Brokerage Policy Manual) to ensure that the licensees of their own brokerage know who they can contact at the brokerage in the event that their own Managing Broker is unavailable.
Remember, your Managing Broker is there to support, teach and guide you to toward success.
