The Life Cycle of a Sale: New Status Values “Pending” and “Closed”

Members may have lingering questions about the new sales statuses that were introduced in Paragon® on July 24, 2024.

In response to questions to the Board MLS® Department, this article serves to clarify what information members can expect to see when a listing has either a “Pending” or “Closed” status.

Pending (firm sale)

The previous “Sold” status, has been replaced with the new “Pending” status.

“Pending” status will be applied to all new sales reported to the MLS® Department which have either an accepted subject-free offer, or once all subjects are removed (firm).

Since at the time of processing sales on Paragon®, the Acceptance and Subject Removal dates are in the past, in addition to displaying the Sales Price, the dates from both fields will also display on Paragon® REALTOR® reports.

The Completion Date is NOT displayed while under “Pending” status.

Closed (completed)

Once the Completion Date has passed the status will transition automatically overnight on Paragon® from “Pending” to “Closed”.

With the Completion Date in the past and the status now “Closed”, the Completion Date will display on the Paragon® REALTOR® reports.

A full update of the Paragon® Residential and Commercial databases conducted overnight July 23, 2024, and into the morning of July 24th, moved existing “Sold” status listings to the new statuses with the following criteria:

  • Status of “Sold”, with a Completion Date in the past = “Closed”
  • Status of “Sold”, with a Completion Date in the future = “Pending”
