Reminder COVID-19 safety protocols still required in reopening phase
In an eMemo last Friday, May 15, the Board shared WorkSafeBC’s detailed reopening guidelines for the real estate sector.
As outlined in the guidelines – recommended by BC’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry – it is not business as usual for real estate.
In accordance with government guidelines, the Board strongly recommends that all members continue to refrain from holding Open Houses, avoid in-person interactions as much as possible and adhere to the most up-to-date physical distancing, hygiene and mask requirements.
As a non-health essential service, REALTORS® have been fortunate to be able to continue to serve their clients virtually from the outset of the pandemic lockdown.
As our province slowly adapts to new business protocols that as Dr. Henry says, will unfortunately be with us for some time to come, we cannot emphasize enough the importance of REALTORS® continuing to respect and adhere to the safety protocols still in place.
Please continue to:
• Use virtual tours – currently, members are limited to ONE virtual tour link on Realtor.ca. (Note: Board IT staff are looking into an option that would allow members two virtual tour links. We will keep you posted.)
• Offer virtual open houses via live streaming.
• Take advantage of the new photo allowance on Paragon – you can now post 40 property photos, up from 20.
• Whenever possible, use e-transaction and digital technologies to review and complete real estate forms and contracts.

As every business learns to adapt to the new normal, this is not a time for professionals in any industry to look for ways to relax the rules.
We all have an obligation to protect ourselves, our clients, our staff and ultimately the public – all for the greater good.
This is a time when REALTORS® can lead by example.
