At a Special General Meeting in Abbotsford on Tuesday, December 6, Fraser Valley members voted on a proposal to amalgamate our Board with five other real estate boards and BCREA to form REALTORS® of BC.
Of the 1,117 votes cast, 63% voted in favour. Under our board’s By-laws, a threshold of 75% was required to approve the motion, therefore the motion was defeated.
Of the six boards who voted today, three voted in favour of amalgamation and three did not meet the required voting threshold, meaning the proposal did not achieve critical mass – four boards with 15,000 plus members combined – to move forward with REALTORS® of BC.
