Local charities need your help!

The REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive is next week!

Nearly 40 REALTORS® have stepped up to help with the Blanket Drive in the Fraser Valley this year — supplying promotional material to over 40 drop-off locations in our communities and delivering much-appreciated donations to local charities.

Community organizations such as NightShift Street Ministries, rely on Realtors and the public to help them acquire much-needed items to help women, men and children find warmth and comfort in our wet and cold climate this time of year.

Angie Paulson, Clothing Coordinator for NightShift says, “The REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive provides a critical boost to our resources and helps us meet the needs of our clothing program for many months after the Drive. It’s pretty amazing how much it helps!”

We’re happy to report that the word is spreading within our communities about our REALTOR® driven program — the Langley team (above) was recently featured in the Langley Times! One of our volunteers has already collected six bags to donate to charities in their community!

Here’s a list of the *new or gently used* items we need to collect for local charities:

  • blankets, sleeping bags
  • new pillows
  • coats
  • new socks, new underwear
  • waterproof or warm clothing for men, women and children (e. g. jackets, coats, rain ponchos, sweaters, hoodies, sweat pants)
  • toques, hats, gloves, mitts,

If you have any items to donate, please grab a Blanket Drive donation bag from your office, fill it up, and bring it to a drop-off location. If every member donated at least one bag, we’d beat our all-time high in 2010 of collecting 2,187 bags of donations to help people in need.

The drive runs from Monday, November 14 – Monday, November 21 and is a shared initiative with the Greater Vancouver and Chilliwack and District Boards across the entire Lower Mainland.   For a list of charities and drop-off locations please go to the Blanket Drive website.
