FVREB Celebrating 100th Anniversary October 19, 2021 – Save the date to join the celebration

It’s hard to imagine the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board had its beginnings nearly 100 years ago, on October 19, 1921! To mark this very special occasion, the Board of Directors has been planning for months to make this a year to remember!

The first 100 years of the FVREB reflects a rich history of members helping to build communities in the Fraser Valley, while giving back to the community through countless initiatives and efforts to help those in need. This historical event honours those who came before us with a vision for the future and those who paved the way towards the present-day FVREB. This milestone also honours the vital role of our members, who do so much more than facilitating real estate transactions – our members help people and businesses find communities where they will live, work, belong and thrive.

Through the decades, we’ve seen many changes in the industry, and the landscape, and our Centennial is a most fitting time to look back on the Board’s proud heritage. To help dig for treasures and uncover interesting moments throughout our history – and to preserve the legacy of the work and impact of the FVREB membership, we have been collaborating with an archivist, Francis Mansbridge, who received his formal training in archiving at UBC. He worked as an archivist for the City and District of North Vancouver for thirteen years. He was also an archivist for the BC History of Nursing Group for 10 years. Francis is a published author of several books on local history, including Vancouver Then and Now, and Dreamers & Designers.

Call for Archives

If you have historical items from earlier days of the Board and would like to donate them, we’d welcome the opportunity to add them to the archives. These items should be:

  • Interesting or unique and worthy of preserving
  • Representative of the work or impact of the Board
  • In good condition

All items will be accepted as donations and will not be returned to the donor. Please drop your items off at the Board office during regular business hours. If you’re unsure if your items are a fit for archiving, or if you would like to check if these are already part of our archives, please email: communications@fvreb.bc.ca.
