Fraser Valley REALTORS® donate $25,000 to local food banks

On behalf of Fraser Valley’s 3,637 REALTORS®, the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB) has donated a total of $25,000 to six food banks in its regional area.

“The services these six organizations provide are crucial to the health of our communities and the wellbeing of those within them,” said John Barbisan, President of the FVREB. “On behalf of all our members, it is my honour to offer this donation in support of their efforts.”

This is the eighth year Fraser Valley Realtors have donated to local food banks. In that time, a total amount of $182,500 has been distributed throughout the region.

As in previous years, the donation is divided proportionately based on the number of Realtors represented in each community. $9,750 will go to the Surrey Food Bank; $5,250 to the Langley Food Bank; $4,500 to Sources – White Rock / South Surrey Food Bank; $1,250 to the North Delta Chapter of the Surrey Food Bank; $3,000 to the Abbotsford Food Bank; and $1,250 to St. Joseph’s Food Bank in Mission.

Jaye Murray, Program Director, received the FVREB’s cheque on behalf of the Sources – White Rock / South Surrey Food Bank.

“This gift gives us the buying power to purchase the specific food items our clients need, and also helps us avoid challenges like expiry dates. We strive to provide healthy, nutritional staples to those we work with and we are able to do that thanks to contributions such as this.

We greatly appreciate the support of Fraser Valley Realtors.”

British Columbia’s food banks support over 100,000 people every year; please consider supporting the food bank organization in your community. For more information about all FVREB community giving initiatives, click here.
