Find your candidate and vote

If you requested a vote-by-mail package for the upcoming Provincial Election, you are not alone – over 560,000 British Columbians also did. However, do you know how to vote so your vote counts? First you need to decide who you want to vote for and then ensure that your vote is included in the election on October 24.

Find your Fraser Valley riding candidate:

We have 16 provincial electoral districts in the Fraser Valley board area. The candidates represent major political parties such as the BC Liberals, BC NDP and BC Greens, but we also have a few Independent candidates and representatives of smaller groups. Look for your riding in the list below to see who you can vote for.

Ready, set, vote!

Vote-by-mail:

If you requested a vote-by-mail package before candidate nominations were finalized on October 2, you likely received a “write-in” or blank voting package in the mail. You can still request a package here.

As reported in recent media stories, if you write in only the name of the party leader in a “write-in” ballot, your vote will not count. You need to write in either the name of a political party or the name of a candidate running in your electoral district.

Once you have filled out your mail-in ballot, you need to ensure that it is received by Elections BC by 8 pm, Saturday, October 24. Elections BC recommends that you mail your vote-by-mail package back to them using the postage paid return envelope by October 17 at the latest.

You can also return your vote-by-mail package in person at:

Advanced and General Voting Day voting:

You can drop off your vote-by-mail package or vote in person in advance from Thursday, October 15 to Wednesday, October 21 from 8 am to 8 pm.

Details have not yet been released on the advanced voting locations; however you can check Elections BC’s Where to Vote app to search for the closest voting place during the advanced voting period.

General Voting Day locations will be open on October 24 from 8 am to 8 pm. Normally it is faster to vote at your assigned location, but you will be able to vote at another voting place that is more convenient for you.

Note: You will need to bring valid ID that shows your name, photo, and address. Click here for a list. If you bring your Where to Vote card and your own pen or pencil, the voting process will be faster and easier. Given the health and safety concerns due to COVID-19, Elections BC will be adhering to physical distancing protocols and is recommending that voters wear a mask to protect others. You will not be asked to remove your mask to vote. Learn more about voting safely and COVID-19 here.
