Seven real estate brokerages in the South Surrey/White Rock area came together to support the Hike 4 Hospice charity event and raised an impressive $7,500 for the Peace Arch Hospice Society (PAHS).
PAHS offers community outreach, counselling and grief support for patients and their families facing loss.
Participants at the May 6 event held at Crescent Beach in Surrey enjoyed a 5 km beachfront walk, food, face painting, and prizes from the REALTORS®. The sales associates greeted participants and handed out more than 200 goody bags.
“We wanted to raise awareness for this incredible local service, the Peach Arch Hospice Society,” says Edie Takahashi, who organized her industry’s presence at the fundraiser. “We had six brokerages coming together under the banner of REALTORS Care® for our community.”
The brokerages participating and representing the local real estate community included, Sutton Group – West Coast Realty (White Rock), Sutton – Premier Realty, Homelife Benchmark Realty, Bay Realty, RE/MAX Colonial Realty, Hugh McKinnon Realty and Macdonald Realty.
“Our team walked and blinged up our hats and shirts in memory of Lin Sawicki who was a colleague we lost earlier this year,” Edie explained.
Edie is pleased to report that $4,500 of the total sponsorships and donations funds of $7,500 raised by the brokerages came out of her office, Sutton Group – West Coast Realty.
The Hike 4 Hospice raised $26K with the participation of 230 community members. PAHS will hold a grand opening of its new supportive-care centre at 15436 16A on Saturday, May 12 from 1 to 4pm.
