BC Vaccine Card Program details announced to take effect September 13, 2021

By Baldev Gill, Chief Executive Officer

Today’s eMemo contains the following updates:

  • Provincial Vaccine Card Program details and requirements

Dear members,

Earlier this week, Premier John Horgan, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Provincial Health Minister Adrian Dix released additional details regarding the B.C. Vaccine Card Program, which was first introduced a few weeks ago.

Effective September 13, all individuals over the age of 12 will be required to show proof of vaccination status when dining out (indoor and outdoor locations) or attending indoor organized events with 50 or more people. BC residents and visitors will be required to have received at least one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine by September 13, and the second dose by October 24.

Proof of vaccination will be required under these circumstances:

  • restaurants (indoor and patio dining)
  • indoor ticketed sporting events
  • indoor concerts
  • indoor theatre/dance/symphony events
  • night clubs and casinos
  • movie theatres
  • fitness centres/gyms
  • organized indoor events (e.g., weddings, parties, conferences, meetings, workshops)
  • student housing on college and university campuses

While proof of vaccination is not required at open houses, members are reminded of the importance of following and modelling social distancing practices and mask protocols during all business dealings. This includes meetings and open houses.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to protecting your clients’ interests, in particular relating to their health and safety, during these past many months.

Have a good weekend and stay safe.
