She’s the pulse of the organization, and she’s woven so deeply into the fabric of the FVREB she can’t easily be replaced.
That’s the essence of how Board staff describe their long-time friend and colleague, Irene Wyper, who is set to retire early next year.
“She’s everyone’s friend, a huge mentor and a great listener,” said Executive Assistant Darcie Rosenberg. “Her door is always open, and she will drop everything to lend an ear.”
Irene is retiring after nearly 40 years with the Board and will be taking some accumulated vacation this fall before she officially retires January 15th. She has worked alongside three CEOs and supported many Presidents, Directors and countless Boards.
“No job is too big or too small for Irene,” said Rosenberg, who has worked with Irene for the past 24 years. “She never shied away from any job, including pulling off countless AGMs with grace and calm.”
When an invitation to Irene’s retirement celebration went out, the responses came pouring in.
“That really speaks to who Irene is,” said Rosenberg.
“She’s the great knowledge keeper of the organization,” said MLS® Director Cheryl Camara, who has worked with Irene for the past 27 years. “She’s so generous with her time, she’s warm, funny and a great friend.”
“She will be sorely missed for her wisdom and dependability, but the bottom line is that she has earned it in spades,” said CEO Baldev Gill. “Putting in the extra hours, getting done what needs to be done, interacting with so many of us, and coordinating the flow of information between staff, committees, and the Board of Directors, in ways that makes things look easy.”
