The Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) has officially endorsed the establishment of a Permanent Provincial Housing Policy Roundtable, an initiative long championed by the BC Real Estate Association (BCREA) and supported by housing stakeholders across the province.
The roundtable would bring together representatives from local governments, Indigenous housing organizations, market and non-market housing providers, academic experts, and federal and provincial ministries to ensure housing policy is informed, collaborative, and effective.
With UBCM’s resolution passed and growing momentum among community and sector partners, BCREA is calling on the BC government to act quickly and convene the roundtable. Doing so would create a standing forum to develop practical, evidence-based solutions that address BC’s urgent housing challenges.

The resolution now awaits a formal response and action from the provincial government.
