Hi Richard Robbins here. Here’s a big idea. All professionals rely on effective communications. No matter what industry you belong to, success really comes down to being able to communicate well. Those who have this talent tend to be significantly more successful.

As a real estate professional, you’re an expert at handling property transactions, but knowledge alone is not enough anymore. Clients hire you to share this expertise. When it comes to communication, the best approach is active listening. Take the time to get to know your clients and understand what’s important to them so that you can guide them in the right direction.

Here are a few additional tips to help you get started towards better communications:

  • What does your client intake process look like?
  • How often do you communicate, and when?
  • How do you set the expectations with your client?
  • What do you do to write down information to avoid miscommunications later?

Remember that effective communication is your responsibility. Your clients are relying on you for this expertise. It’s up to you to articulate your value, understand and address their desires, concerns and questions, and share your insights in a meaningful way that transforms the process from stressful to painless.
