REBGV ad campaign wants to shine a light on the value of REALTORS®

“We want to put 2016 behind us.”

That could easily be a quote from Hilary Clinton. But it actually came from Phil Moore, the President of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) explaining why his Board chose to pay for a $2-million ad campaign promoting the value of Realtors that launched this weekend.

“There’s the concern about Realtors’ behaviour and there’s also the concern about the affordability crisis, and really, we are just trying to be part of the solution,” said Moore, in an interview with Global.

He says the campaign is focused on educating buyers and sellers of their options and building trust in their members by improving their understanding and appreciation for the value a consumer gains by working with a Realtor.

The radio spots began airing this week, and paid feature articles were published by the Vancouver Sun and Province newspapers advising consumers on how to choose a Realtor and feel “empowered and confident throughout the buying or selling process.”

The Board will also run social media ads in November and television and online video ads in 2019.

The ads suggest that people choose the “right” Realtor for them, implying that there’s a right Realtor for everyone, and that Realtors are not interchangeable.

Moore points out: “In this market, you have more time to look at homes and be choosy. Take the same approach with Realtors: invest the time, be selective, and choose one with the skills, expertise and demeanour that’s right for you.”
