What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is a process that empowers personal development and creates an effective way of helping others realize their own potential.
“The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.” Steven Spielberg
Mentoring is:
- Helping others believe in themselves, boosting confidence.
- Asking questions to challenge, while providing guidance and encouragement.
- Allowing exploration of new ideas in confidence.
- Helping others direct their life towards a future of their choice – not leaving it to chance.
- A chance to review your own life desires.
Are you a newer REALTOR® looking for some additional support? Or are you an experienced REALTOR® ready to share perspective and advice with up-and-coming real estate professionals? Then consider participating in the FVREB Mentoring Program!
The next intake for the FVREB Mentoring Program launches with a one-day workshop on Friday, April 7 from 9 am to 4 pm in the FVREB Theatre. Matched mentor/mentee pairs must be signed up by March 30 and able to attend. (Note: Mentoring pairs are from within the same office and are matched with approval of their manager.)
The Board’s Mentoring Program does not dictate content, but provides a structure for mentoring. It is fully customizable by the brokerage and participating members, with the ultimate goal of helping new and emerging REALTORS® get the hands-on, practical skills they need to launch a successful career.
Research shows that “70 per cent of entrepreneurs who receive mentoring survive for five years or more, double the rate of those who do not receive mentoring.”
