Have you considered making a complaint to the Council in the past? Would you report misconduct using an anonymous tip line?
These are questions the Real Estate Council is asking REALTORS® and the public to answer through its recently published Anonymous Tipline Survey. In an effort to encourage the general public and licensees to “bring suspicious activity to the Council’s attention” the Council is planning to introduce an anonymous reporting tip line, which it calls an “important consumer protection resource.”
“Speaking out about misconduct can be difficult,” says the Council on its website. The anonymity of the tip line may make it easier for members of the public and Realtors to report misconduct in the industry, according to the Council.
The survey is intended to uncover potential barriers or challenges to reporting misconduct.
The survey takes about 2 to 3 minutes to complete and respondents are completely anonymous. The survey summary will be reported in the Council’s newsletter, and on its website. To find more information about the questions included in the survey, email info@recbc.ca. Take the survey.
