As concerns about the potential spread of COVID-19 increase, FVREB, along with our sister boards Greater Vancouver and Chilliwack, has temporarily removed the rule requiring that properties listed on MLS® be made available for showings.
This change takes effect today and will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
Rule 3.22 of the Rules of Cooperation requires members to make active listings accessible for showings. A listing that’s inaccessible for showings is a contingent listing and must have a signed instruction from the seller(s) to that effect and a notation added to the REALTOR® Remarks.
Given the circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ll allow, until April 30, “no show” periods that exceed the five-day limitation set out in the rule.
Seller’s instructions must still be in writing and noted in the REALTOR® Remarks. It’ll be expected that any listing without a “no show” instruction in the REALTOR® Remarks is available for showings. Per 3.22 (c), please note the obligation to notify other members if an offer comes in during a no show period.

If you have questions about this change, please call either our Professional Standards Department at (604) 930-7606 or our MLS® Department at (604) 930-7639.
Open house and showing guidance
We encourage you to limit social interactions in your day-to-day business that could lead to the spread of illness. However, whether or not to hold an open house or showing is a decision for REALTORS® and their sellers to make. We recommend that you talk with your clients and make decisions based on the latest public health guidance.
