Meet your new Board Chair, Narinder Bains! We asked him a few questions to help you get to know him better, both personally and professionally.
- How long have you been in real estate and what road did you take to get here?
I signed up for the Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course in 2006 but withdrew. In 2009, I listed my parents’ house as a For Sale By Owner, prompting me to register for the course for a second time, and became licensed in 2010. - Why did you want to be on the FVREB Board?
In 2017 I was approached to consider running for a Director position. I didn’t put my name forward, but that year I started volunteering on committees because I’ve always been someone who gives back to the community. In 2020 I was approached again by the Board Development Committee and was elected as a Director on the Board. - What is your vision for the Board in 2023/24?
My vision for 2023/24 is to position our Board as a leader in organized real estate, advocate for our membership, promote excellence and innovation, while following governance best practices. Communication is key in fostering trust and empowering our Board to elevate our services. To better serve our members, my goal is to leverage technological advancements to improve and enhance our operations and services. I also aim to strengthen our relationships with other local real estate boards and regulatory bodies to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and achieve mutual goals. - Who do you look up to and why?
I don’t have a specific person I look up to. Different people inspire me in different ways. My values and beliefs come from various sources. I admire those who are true to themselves and are open to learning and growing. - What are your hobbies, or do you even have time for hobbies?
My hobbies include working out at the gym and hiking. I have made my health my number one priority. My healthy lifestyle has helped me become a better role model for my kids, other family members, and friends. I make time for my workouts early in the morning so that I can spend time with my kids and attend their evening activities (if I’m not working). - What is the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
The Beast and Drop Zone rides at the PNE and zip lining in Whistler!
Thanks for giving us a little insight, Narinder! We’re very excited to work with you and help take the FVREB to new heights!
