Get to know municipal election candidates and their views on real estate issues

The Board’s Government Relations (GR) volunteers are gearing up for the municipal elections on Saturday, October 20 by participating in 10 election meetings starting next week. Attend a meeting held in your municipality to hear from people who want to be your Mayor and Council.

“As REALTORS®, we work at the ground level in our communities and see what issues affect our clients most,” said Dharbinder (Bob) Dhaliwal, Chair, Government Relations committee. “It is crucial that we all do our part to get involved, ask questions and vote as the decisions made by our municipal governments can have a significant impact on the public and our industry.”

The events are being organized by local chambers of commerce and the Surrey Board of Trade. We’ll be helping out at most of the meetings as a sponsor and adding real estate issues to the agenda. Come to the meetings to hear from the candidates and how they feel about a variety of real estate issues selected by your Board’s GR volunteers.

Topics covered:

  • Transportation & transit improvements
  • Legalized cannabis
  • Housing developments
  • Flooding
  • Access to property information integral to real estate transactions
  • Crime and safety in neighborhoods

Here’s a list of the meetings we’re sponsoring:

Note: Admission to the events is free (unless otherwise noted) but some of the organizers would appreciate pre-registration so they can ensure there is enough space to accommodate attendees. Click on the links below to register or get the most updated information for a particular meeting.
