Fraser Valley REALTORS Charitable Foundation to sell vacant land

As announced at our Annual General Meeting, the Fraser Valley REALTORS Charitable Foundation is offering for sale over 3.5 acres of prime, undeveloped land in the heart of Guildford, with proceeds to be used to benefit charities and causes within the region.

The property, at 10515 155 Street, Surrey, is located immediately northeast of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB) office and had been owned by the FVREB for nearly 50 years. Originally purchased privately in 1969 by five visionary past presidents of the FVREB, the land was soon sold to the FVREB for the initial cost with the agreement that it would someday be used to benefit the communities of the Fraser Valley.

In 2016, members of the FVREB voted to transfer the land to establish the Fraser Valley REALTORS Charitable Foundation. Proceeds from the sale of the land will create an endowment, where the principal remains untouched and interest earned will be used to fund grants to support organizations and people in need in North Delta, Surrey, White Rock, the Langleys, Abbotsford and Mission.

“The time has come to fulfill a legacy,” explains Charles Wiebe, chair of the FVRCF. “The land has appreciated to such a degree that the proceeds of the sale will form a substantial endowment for the Fraser Valley REALTORS Charitable Foundation to allow it to have a meaningful impact in our communities.”

“It’s a privilege to be able to work in this profession,” continues Wiebe. “REALTORS® work hard to help clients achieve their goals, whether that’s to sell or buy a home, arrange a new business lease or find commercial space. What’s not always at the forefront, is the work REALTORS® do to build strong communities through volunteerism and other charitable works, as individuals and through their brokerages. Through the FVRCF and the sale of this land, we can take the good works of Fraser Valley REALTORS® to the next level.”

Given the size and excellent location of the land, Fraser Valley REALTORS Charitable Foundation anticipates a high level of interest in this opportunity. As administrator of the sale, it is offering the property for purchase by way of a confidential bidding process.

Offers to purchase the land will be accepted between March 1 and April 30, 2019. Interested parties may contact Darcie Rosenberg c/o the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board at darcie@fvreb.bc.ca or 604-930-7604. For more information, visit REALTOR Link®.
