Driving Passion to Serve the Community: A #RealtorsWhoInspire Story

Imagine combining your passion for cars and a strong desire to help the community. That is exactly what Robbie Johal of RE/MAX LifeStyles Realty did.

On May 29, he rallied some of his REALTOR® friends to go on a charity car cruise and bring a donation to the Surrey Food Bank. “Food banks need our support now more than ever as they are dealing with food shortages and other challenges,” Robbie said. Due to COVID-19, many people have lost their jobs, and food programs through schools and community centers are suspended.

Robbie is hopeful that Realtor charity car cruises will soon become a regular or seasonal event. “There are now 45 Realtors who have signified interest. It’s very exciting because it will not just be confined in the Fraser Valley. Soon, we will be able to help more communities,” Robbie said.

Those who participated in the first car cruise that he organized took the Golden Ears-Maple Ridge scenic route. Aside from marveling at the beauty that Fraser Valley and nearby regions have to offer, what struck Robbie the most is the wonderful feeling of being able to give back to the communities that they love and serve.

As COVID-19 pandemic sweeps across the world, we are left to lean into our values and make the right choices. REALTORS® are following safety measures to halt the spread of the virus and manage the condition of infected individuals. Still, we see our members show their resiliency, creativity, passion, and sense of community. To highlight these, the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board has launched the #RealtorsWhoInspire campaign. We will be sharing stories during this pandemic from our Realtors.

We encourage you to share hope with our community. Send us a Facebook DM or email us at communications@fvreb.bc.ca. In this time of physical distancing, it is a safe and positive way to connect.

Stay safe and be kind!
