Members of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) have approved two separate fee increases at the recent Annual General Meeting, reflecting rising costs and ongoing legal expenses.
Cost-of-Living Adjustment
Beginning January 1, 2027, CREA dues will increase by two per cent annually. This adjustment will remain in place until CREA’s Board determines it is no longer required. The increase is intended to address inflationary pressures, as national dues have remained unchanged for more than a decade.
Two-Year Special Assessment
In addition, members approved a temporary $30 per member annual assessment for two years, beginning with 2027. This measure is designed to help offset significant legal costs, including ongoing litigation and regulatory matters impacting the association.
Both motions passed by a narrow margin, signaling measured but necessary support from membership. CREA leadership noted the increases are part of broader efforts to maintain financial stability while continuing to advocate for and protect REALTORS® across Canada.
The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board congratulates Darin Germyn, Past President of FVREB, on his appointment as CREA Chair-Elect, and extends best wishes to the newly installed Board of Directors following this week’s AGM.
