New BCREA PDP Framework Effective January 2026

As advised in eMemo #4341, the British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) has announced the updated Professional Development Program (PDP) framework for all REALTORS® in BC. As of Thursday, January 1, 2026, REALTORS® will be required to complete 21 PDP hours per two-year licensing cycle, up from 18 hours.

The revised framework reflects a modernized approach to REALTOR® learning, designed to better support professional growth, enhance credibility, and align with the evolving expectations of both the industry and the public.

“Raising the bar for professionalism in real estate means continually strengthening the education and training of REALTORS® to meet the high standards expected by the public,” said FVREB CEO Baldev Gill. “The enhanced requirements by BCREA reflect our shared commitment to earning and maintaining the trust that is essential to our profession.”

Members whose license expires January 1, 2026, or later, will require the increased 21 PDP hours. Any hours earned and not recorded prior to July 1, 2025, will count towards the new required hours by providing the Education Department with the appropriate certificate.

We encourage you to review BCREA’s Frequently Asked Questions document. If you have any questions about the new PDP Framework, please contact the FVREB Education Department at education@fvreb.bc.ca.
