New PDP Framework Begins in 2026 to Support Higher Standards

As we close out 2025 and head into 2026, we wanted to remind you that beginning Thursday, January 1, 2026, REALTORS® across British Columbia will move to an updated Professional Development Program (PDP) framework that requires licensee PDP hours to increase from 18 to 21 per licensing cycle.

This change goes beyond meeting a new requirement. It reinforces a commitment to continuous learning in an increasingly complex real estate environment shaped by regulatory shifts, new technologies, and growing public scrutiny. The revised framework encourages REALTORS® to stay informed, adaptable, and confident in their expertise and helps strengthen REALTOR® credibility and public trust.

Members whose licence expires on or after January 1, 2026, will be required to complete the full 21 PDP hours. Hours earned but not recorded prior to July 1, 2025, will count toward the new requirement by providing the Education Department with the appropriate certificate.

BCREA has a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) resource that will be updated regularly. For the latest information, please bookmark the Updated PDP Framework Resources page.
