Artificial intelligence was front and centre at this year’s PacificWest Conference, featured at nearly every session (not to mention the star at the FVREB booth – see article in this issue of NewsReal). From brokerage leadership to prompt engineering, speakers and industry leaders explored how AI is reshaping real estate, business, and everyday life at an astonishing pace.
What emerged across multiple sessions was clear: AI is no longer the future, it’s the present, and professionals who learn to understand and harness it will be best positioned to thrive.
At the Managing Broker Summit, BCFSA CEO Tolga Yalkin addressed how AI and technology are transforming how professionals and consumers access information, but reminded Brokers that these tools can never replace the values that define trusted advisor and human connection.
That theme carried into “The Future of the Brokerage” session, where speakers explored how AI is redefining the business model of real estate itself. Attendees heard examples from the U.S., where some developers now use robots to handle pre-sales interactions in sales centres.
The takeaway? In an AI-driven marketplace, REALTORS® must be crystal clear about their value: the expertise, empathy, and guidance that no algorithm can replicate.
For those eager to better understand AI’s practical side, the AI Prompt Engineering session offered a hands-on look at how to make these tools work smarter, including how to write more thoughtful prompts to get the best results.
Together, these sessions painted a vivid picture of an industry at a crossroads—one where technology is accelerating faster than ever, but where human expertise, storytelling, and trust remain at the core.
