Join us on July 4 for a free presentation on personal safety

Join Surrey RCMP Constable Sukh Chattha-Johal who will talk to members about personal safety in terms of awareness, prevention, intervention, and response.

The free, one-hour session will be held on Thursday, July 4 from 10 am to 11 am in the FVREB Theatre.

Note: Registration is required to ensure there is enough space to accommodate all attendees.

The Constable will cover the following topics:

  • A review of current crime stats related to the number of real estate assaults
  • Types of incidents:
    • verbal threats
    • physical assaults
    • harassments
    • stalking
    • sexual assaults
  • A review of safety procedures:
    • understanding your neighborhood
    • buddy system
    • developing a personal safety plan
    • panic alarm
    • property assessment – crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED)
    • communication
    • scheduled meetings
    • situational awareness
    • know your surroundings
    • review of social media platforms and any issues there
    • review of safety apps and other online tools
  • When and how to report incidents to authorities
  • Documentation and reporting of incidents
