For REALTORS®, lockboxes are an integral part of day-to-day business, providing secure, convenient access to properties and preventing unauthorized entry. With such an essential tool, it’s important to stay abreast of best practices. Read on to learn how to access a lockbox when visiting properties that are in remote areas and out of wi-fi range.

For Bluetooth boxes:

1) Prior to going to the remote location, while still in wi-fi/data range, open your SKRE (SentriKey© Real Estate) app. Opening the app will allow your phone to sync with SentriLock network and update listings/ lockboxes/etc. Once you have opened your application, you may exit it, but do not force the application to close.

2) When you arrive at the remote location, put your phone in airplane mode. This helps the phone function better in remote areas because it is not trying to search for connections.

3) Open the SKRE app and press ENT on the lockbox. The connection between the lockbox and phone only uses Bluetooth. This means that your phone does not need data to open the lockbox. Therefore, even without internet, the box will still open.

4) Once your showing is finished and you are back within wi-fi/data range, reopen the app. This will allow it to sync with SentriLock network, update, and send showing notifications.

For non-Bluetooth boxes:

1) Agents must schedule an appointment for the showing property. To show another agent’s property request the listing agent schedule an appointment within the SKRE app, or if it is your own listing, you can schedule your appointment on the SKRE website or app. Schedule 30 minutes prior to the start of your appointment

2) Prior to going to the remote location, while still in wi-fi/data range, open your SKRE App. Opening the app will allow the phone to sync with SentriLock network and update listings/lockboxes/etc. Once you have opened your application, you may exit it, but do not force the application to close.

3) When you arrive at the remote location, put your phone in airplane mode. This helps the phone function better in remote areas because it is not trying to search for connections.

5) Once your showing is finished and you are back within Wi-Fi/data range, reopen the app. This will allow it to sync with SentriLock network, update, and send showing notifications.


Important information

  1. If your membership account is terminated for any reason after account activation, to reinstate SentriLock account, you must call the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board.
  2. To remove your SentriLock team members, you need to call the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board.
  3. When you purchase a new phone or reset your current phone, you must call Fraser Valley Real Estate Board to register the device for Sentrilock Service.
